How Can You Research A Car Before You Buy?
With so much information available at the click of a mouse, the prospect of starting your research at a blank Google prompt may seem daunting. The knowledgeable and professional staff at Pellegrino Chrysler Jeep wants to help by suggesting you prioritize your needs and wants, use our online inventory to comparison shop, read up on the make and model of the vehicle you are interested in, and call us when we can be helpful in your search.
Prioritize
Think about what is most important to you. Are you a commuter looking for fuel efficiency? Are you an avid hobbyist and need a safe way to transport your canoe? Do you have a growing family and need more cargo space?
Once you have a good idea of what your needs are, think through what you want. Have you always wanted a moonroof? Are safety features most important? Maybe you just want standard features. Our Compare & Research tab will help you get specific about what it is you’re looking for.
Think through both your needs and wants and understand that with a little advice from one of our salespeople, you may just be able to have both!
Online Inventory
The next step in researching is to take a look at our online inventory. From the comfort of home, you can look at both our new and pre-owned inventory.
For every vehicle we have on our lot, we provide a color photo, specifics of the vehicle down to the Vehicle Identification Number, and a printable window sticker.
With this information, you can use AutoCheck or CARFAX to research your vehicle by its VIN. This is especially important for a pre-owned vehicle; with just a few clicks you can see the service history and whether the vehicle has been in any reported accidents.
You should also know that you can have an independent mechanic look over a car before you purchase it. You will likely have to pay for that service, but if it brings peace of mind, it may be worth it.
We also provide easy ways for you to start financing online, find your trade-in value, and schedule curbside delivery of your vehicle.
Research
Once you have an idea of what you’re most interested in, we encourage you to get in touch with one of our salespeople directly. We are here to answer specific questions and can provide detailed information for each vehicle.
Next, do some online research with reputable and objective sources like Car and Driver and Consumer Reports to read about the vehicle that most interests you. You may be surprised by what you learn!
Test Drive
Although most research can be done from home, the test drive is an important part of your research to find the perfect vehicle. Once you’ve decided on the vehicle you want, you need to get it out on the open road.
The only way to know for sure if the vehicle is for you is to sit behind the wheel. If you are typically a highway driver, we will take the car out on the highway. If you spend more time in city traffic, let’s find some stop-and-go traffic to see how the vehicle handles.
You need to try out the seats, adjust the steering wheel, and see how the stereo system sounds. That can’t be done from home, but it can be done safely. Call us to schedule a safe and sanitized test drive that meets social distancing standards.
